Fierce Unicorn designed home and away kits for Bishan Thunderstorms, a queer football team based in Singapore and made up of young people from all over the world.
The Thunderstorms are new. They formed at the end of 2025 with one thing already on the calendar: the Asia Pride Games in Kaohsiung. That is a short runway for any team, and it showed in the best possible way. Young, loud, unguarded, and playing with the kind of energy you cannot coach. What they needed was a kit to match it.
We worked directly with the captains. Storm-blue and purple, brushstroke waves running across the body, the crest on the chest, rainbow trim at the collar and cuffs, and the progress pride flag on the shoulder.
Then the part that matters most. On the back of every shirt, under the name and above the number, we printed each player's pronouns.
It is a small area of fabric. It is also the whole point. A football shirt announces who you are to everyone in the stadium, and for a queer team playing abroad, saying it in your own words, in the same typeface as your name, is not decoration. Nobody has to explain themselves twice.
A brand new team should not have to look like everyone else while it works out who it is. This one already knew.
